WHAT: Proclamation Dedicating 2007 to Colorectal Cancer Prevention in Shallowater

WHEN: Monday, February 19th, 2007, 7:00pm

WHERE: Shallowater ISD Boardroom, School Administration Building, Ave. K, Shallowater, TX

WHY: To motivate citizens of Shallowater to seek immediate and consistent screenings for curable early cancer and removal of colon polyps in order to eliminate colorectal cancer as a cause of illness and death in our region. Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers and the second highest cause of combined cancer mortality in our country.

Please join us at the proclamation event and help spread the word. Everyone can make a difference, and by working together, we can make colon cancer history!

The 2007 Lubbock and South Plains Region Colon Cancer Prevention and Awareness Campaign press conference and kickoff will be held Thursday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the American Cancer Society Lubbock Office, 3411 73rd Street. (more)

1/01/2007 - The Texas Cancer Council awards grant to LCCPTF
The Texas Cancer Council recently awarded a grant to the Lubbock Colon Cancer Prevention Task Force to help fight colorectal cancer on the South Plains. In 2005 the Task Force successfully competed for and received funds from the U.S. Center for Disease Control to be used for colon cancer control activities in Lubbock County. The new grant will help expand these efforts to counties of the South Plains. (more)
